You must have a valid marriage license to be married in Hawaii. Both parties must go in together to the Department of Health. No one can do this ahead of time for you, and it is first come, first serve. It usually only takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The license is good immediately and you can be married as soon as you like!
Licenses may be obtained at:
- State Department of Health
Marriage License Office
1250 Punchbowl Street
Honolulu, HI 96813
808.586.4544
Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Field Agents are available for couples arriving on the weekends to be married the same weekend. We will assist you with this, if needed.

There is no waiting period or blood tests, and the license is valid statewide (on all islands) for thirty days from the date you receive it. The fee is $60. CASH, payable to the agent.
Both partners must be over the age of eighteen. Birth certificates are not required, but a driver's license, passport or other form of picture identification should be brought to the licensing appointment. The license also requires the names of each partner's parents and the places where they were born.
If either partner has been married before, he or she will have to state the date, county and state (or country) in which the divorce was finalized for each previous marriage. You do not need to bring your divorce decree with you.
Please remember to bring your license with you on your wedding day.
